BAFTA Los Angeles Humanitarian Award for Mandela Movie's Idris Elba

Idris Elba who plays Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, was awarded the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Los Angeles Britannia Humanitarian Award Saturday night.  The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles' highest accolade and is a celebration of achievements which honours individuals and companies that have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts.

The Awards Ceremony took place last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel where Mandela's daughter, Zindzi and actor, Sean Penn presented the award to Elba.

Successful White House Screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom

US president, Barack Obama hosted a special screening of Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom at the White House last night in the company of producer Anant Singh, Mandela's daughters, Zindzi and Zenani, lead actors Idris Elba and Naomie Harris and director, Justin Chadwick.Also in attendance were South African ambassador to the United State, Ebrahim Rasool; former US ambassador to South Africa, Donald Gips and his wife, Gill; editor of Time Magazine, Richard Stengel and US distributor of the film, Harvey Weinstein and his fashion designer wife, Georgina Chapman.
